Our Greatest Gift
God was sitting up in Heaven
Looking down from high above
Watching all His people
The ones He created with love
His heart was filled with sorrow
His eyes reduced to tears
He watched them act as though
They had nothing to fear
"Something must be done," He said
"To bring them back to Me
Did I not create them, to live eternally?"
A young maiden He sought,
Mary was sixteen.
For His Sons mother
Must be pure and clean.
Joseph, He chose,
A carpenter by trade.
Joseph came to Mary
And did as the Lord bade.
Then they were married,
A union truly blessed,
At last, the world would know
complete happiness
To Bethlehem they traveled,
In a stable they would stay
Our Savior, was born
He slept in the hay.
And God in His wisdom, above
Knew He had mended the rift.
He'd sent His Son, for us to love
This was our Greatest Christmas Gift.
